Full-Time Fourth Grade Teacher

Saint Pius X Catholic School in Greensboro, North Carolina, is seeking a dynamic, creative, kind and caring fourth grade teacher for the 2021-2022 school year.  North Carolina Elementary Education licensure and successful teaching experience are preferred. Expertise in Elementary Education pedagogy, particularly reading comprehension and other developmental areas, as well as positive classroom management skills, a collaborative personality and upbeat attitude, a strong work ethic and excellent oral and written communication skills are among the requirements and desired attributes.  Candidates must have a passion for teaching children who are in their early formative years and should convey affirming expectations of themselves and their students, and an understanding of the complex developmental needs of elementary level students. 

The candidate creates and administers a classroom program that is conducive to student learning and which emphasizes mutual respect for all people. The candidate should use a variety of classroom techniques for learning and implement interdisciplinary, project-based work, field trips, outdoor experiences, educational technologies, and collaborative work with other teachers and classrooms into the second grade program. The candidate is flexible and committed to a continuous process for professional growth.

Teaching responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • The planning and implementation of a creative, engaging and stimulating classroom program that entails a high level of collaboration amongst students, includes interdisciplinary, project-based work, and which utilizes educational technologies appropriately.
  • The promotion of high expectations, and the establishment of an environment that supports social, emotional, and academic development in students.
  • Frequent communicate with parents and caregivers about their child’s progress by phone, email, in conferences, newsletters, and through progress reports and report cards.
  • Consistent evaluation of students and use of data to drive instruction.
  • Integration of the tenants of the Catholic faith into the curriculum.
  • Attendance staff meetings and other school related gatherings.
  • Participation in school committee work and other school endeavors.
  • Active monitoring of students during recess, and other duties as assigned.
  • Attendance and participation at open houses, school plays, arts showcases, and similar events.
  • Communicates genuine comfort and excitement about working with children from diverse backgrounds.
  • Display of excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.

Substitute Teacher

St. Pius X Catholic School is looking for energetic, motivated, and experienced substitute teachers to work with students at all levels, from pre-kindergarten to eighth grade. Substitute Teachers execute lesson plans left by the absent teacher or are required to create classroom lessons on their own. Substitute Teachers create and maintain a respectful and fair classroom culture that fosters safe and productive learning. Substitute Teachers monitor, observe and report student behavior according to school policies and procedures.

Candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree. Preference will be given to those who have formal education training, teaching experience, and licensure.

Part-Time After School Care Staff

Saint Pius X Catholic School in Greensboro, North Carolina, is seeking staff members for the After School Care program. 

After School Care (ASC) provides supervised recreation, homework assistance, and fun for Pre-K through middle school-aged Saint Pius X School students from dismissal time (3:15 p.m.) up until 6:00 p.m.

If you enjoy working with children, and a relaxed after-school setting with part-time hours suitable to your schedule, this may be a great opportunity for you!  

Preference will be given to licensed educators (in or out of service) or pre-service teachers/college students who are pursuing a career in education.  Hourly wage is commensurate with background and experience.

Instructional Assistant Position

Saint Pius X Catholic School is seeking an Instructional Assistant.  The Instructional Assistant at Saint Pius X provides support to students and teachers. This important work involves assisting with academics and behavioral problems as directed by the classroom teacher, assisting with small group activities, maintaining confidential records, and performing carpool, playground, and lunch supervisory duties. Instructional Assistants must demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, and to work cooperatively with a variety of individuals and groups. They must relate well to children and their families, be able to exercise sound judgment, and maintain a positive approach to their work. They assist with general housekeeping and clerical responsibilities and perform other duties as needed.

This position may also include assisting with our After Care program, and other auxiliary school programs. 

Successful prior experience is preferred. Preference will be given to those who have experience working with children.  Hourly wage is commensurate with background and experience.
