SPX School Board

SPX School Board and Principal

Antonette Aguilera brings with her over 25 years of teaching experience, from elementary education to college and the post-graduate level. She began as a 3rd-grade teacher just outside of Los Angeles, California, and has served St. Pius X Catholic School as assistant principal since 2018. In addition to her love for children and for teaching, her fervent dedication to education advocacy and law has been a driving force in her career. “As someone who has been shaped by Catholic education, the mission of Catholic schools resonates deeply. I believe in nurturing in our students a lasting relationship with Christ and an appreciation for the profound beauty of our Gospel teachings.”

Aguilera holds a Bachelor of Arts from California Polytechnic University, a Juris Doctor degree from Western State University, a Master of Laws from the University of London, and a master’s degree in educational administration from Liberty University. She has a passion for the arts, enjoys cooking (especially foods of her native country - Italy), and delights in time spent with family, near and abroad.

An avid traveler, she loves the mountains and adores the sea.

Regarding her new role at St. Pius X, she stated, "We are fortunate to have an exceptionally loving, talented, and committed staff. I am deeply grateful for the privilege of knowing and collaborating with each of them, and I am fully devoted to supporting their outstanding contributions. St. Pius X Catholic School holds a special place as a vital community asset. I look forward to furthering our legacy of distinction."

Ryan McGovern

I have served as treasurer on the SPX School Board since October 2020.  My wife, Carolyn, and I have had our four children enrolled at SPX School for the past 8 years.  For the 2024-25 school year, Jack will be in 8th grade, Maddie in 7th, Katie in 5th, and Owen in 3rd.  Having children at St. Pius X serves as my key motivating factor for contributing my time to helping steer the school’s strategic direction, and I view my education and career experience as being a good fit for the position of treasurer.  I earned my bachelor’s degree in economics from UNC-Chapel Hill and my MBA in finance and marketing from New York University.  I have spent my entire 26-year career at Volvo, where I am Vice President of Global Financial Planning & Analysis for our captive finance company.  In addition to the school board, I contribute my time to the United Way, where I recently concluded a 5-year stint on their Education & Income Impact Council, and to Cub Scout Pack 244 at St. Pius X, where I am currently committee chair, treasurer, and Bear den leader.

I have served on the SPX School Board for the past 3 years, having been appointed by Monsignor Marcaccio. For the last 2 years, I’ve held the position of president. Before joining the school board, I actively contributed to SPX Cub Scout Pack 244 as both committee chair and cubmaster. My wife, Catherine, and I have had children enrolled at the school for the past 7 years. In the upcoming 2024-2025 school year, our children will be in 3rd and 6th grades. As a Greensboro native, I attended Southwest Guilford High School. I later earned my undergraduate degree from NC State and a master’s degree from Florida State. In my free time, I enjoy travel, sports, and quality time with my family.

I have served on the SPX School Board since September 2022.  My wife, Annie, and I have had our two children enrolled at the school over the past 8 years.  For the 2024-25 school year, Olivia will be in 8th grade and Matt in 6th.  My wife is my motivation for serving on the school board.  Her dedication to making sure we are involved in our children's lives and that they attend a great school drove me to want to volunteer in any way I could.  In addition to the school board, I also serve on the Fine Arts Boosters Committee and the Guys Doing Stuff group at SPX Catholic Church.  I went to North Carolina State, where I earned bachelor's degrees in both construction engineering and mechanical engineering.  I now work as a mechanical engineer and project manager in commercial HVAC.  I love volunteering at school and can frequently be seen helping out with the drama program or serving as a room dad/field trip chaperone.

Ryan Sanford

I have served as a vice president of the SPX School Board since Fall 2022.  My wife, Christie, and I currently have four children enrolled at SPX School, and our eldest graduated in 2023.  Amelia will be in the 8th grade, Elliott in 5th, Henry in 2nd, and Julius in Pre-K.  I am a physician with Carolina Kidney Associates, having completed my training at UNC-Chapel Hill. I completed RCIA at SPX Catholic Church in 2017 and am thankful to be part of the parish and school communities.  Giving back as a member of the school board is a great privilege.

Allison Callan

I have served on the SPX School Board since the 2022-23 school year, and I am currently secretary.  I am married to Patrick and have three children.  Braelyn is in the 7th grade, Logan is in 3rd grade, and Ryan is in 1st grade, all at SPX.  Much of my life has been devoted to service, which resonates in my own family, faith, and occupation.  I earned my bachelor’s of science degree at the University of Vermont and am a registered nurse and registered dietitian.  I currently work at Out of the Garden Project as an education and advocacy coordinator.  Our mission is to teach, give, and grow, while breaking down barriers to nutrition in the greater Piedmont area.  With this focus at the forefront, it is an honor to serve the SPX School community as a school board member.

I have served on the SPX School Board since September 2022. My husband, Dave, and I have been members of the St. Pius X community since 2007. Our four children have attended SPX School during the time we have lived in Greensboro. Lucas graduated from SPX in 2023 and now attends Page HS, Bridget is in the 8th grade, Colin is in 5th grade, and Tyler is in 3rd. Our children are all active in the many sports SPX School has to offer, but basketball holds a special place in our hearts, as my husband has coached various SPX and rec basketball teams over the past 5 years. I earned my bachelor’s degree in psychology from Lenoir- Rhyne University and my master’s degree in speech-language pathology from Valdosta State University. I currently work as an SLP for Guilford County Schools. Our family enjoyed living in Switzerland for 3 years, which provided us with immense gratitude for the ability to travel as well as for community and family support.
