RESOURCES FOR FAMILIES OF ST. PIUS X
PARISH NURSERY
Our parish nursery is offered each weekend at the 5:00 pm Saturday Vigil Mass, as well as during the 9:00 am and 11:30 am Sunday Mass times. When Coffee Talk is in session (between the masses), the nursery remains open for parents' use if they are in attendance. We have also been fortunate enough to be able to provide the nursery for special parish events - such as Newcomer's Dinners and other social events. If you haven't visited this special area yet in our parish center, please stop by! The nursery is currently open to children up to age 6.
We are working to hire additional, part-time nursery staff members so that we can expand our nursery from one room to two rooms: one for younger children up to age 3 and one for children ages 4-6. If you or anyone you know is interested in a part-time position (with a highly competitive hourly wage), please contact Lindsay Sartorio in the parish office. Anyone aged 16 or older is welcome to apply. Hours will vary from weekend shifts to occasional weeknights or other times based on event schedules.

CHILDREN'S LITURGY OF THE WORD
Every Sunday during the school year, we celebrate the Children's Liturgy of the Word (CLOW) during the 9:00 am Mass. The schedule for CLOW follows our Faith Formation schedule, which can be found on our website or in the parish bulletin.
CLOW is for children ages 3-6 and provides them with the opportunity to hear the Word of God and participate in age-appropriate activities during Monsignor's homily. Our CLOW team is a dedicated group of men and women, as well as teen helpers, that make learning about Jesus fun and rewarding for our youngest parishioners.
If your child is interested in attending CLOW, please bring them forward at any 9:00 am Mass when Monsignor calls the children up after the Gospel reading. Parents are welcome to attend, if needed, to help their child familiarize themself with the group. And extra hands are always welcome as helpers!

HELPING CHILDREN LEARN TO WORSHIP
St. Pius X has been able to provide a pamphlet called "Helping Children Learn to Worship" for families in church and using the parish nursery. This document is designed to provide tips and suggestions for teaching about the Mass, preparing to attend, managing expectations, and transitioning from the nursery to sitting in church as a family.
As a reminder, families are always welcome, and we do have the baptistery area available for anyone who may need a transitional space before or during Mass. And for some exciting news ... we are currently in the financial and structural planning process to have this area sound-proofed so that our parishioners and guests can make fuller use of this space!
You can download the pamphlet "Helping Children Learn to Worship" here, or pick one up in the nursery or baptistery during any Mass time.

CHILDREN'S BULLETINS
When children receive a worship bulletin of their own each week, they know that worship is for them, too! We have acquired a parish subscription to ChildrensBulletins.com and will be providing a link each week in our parish email to a "Children's Bulletin" that contains theologically sound, scripture-based activities for your child to enjoy before, during, or after Mass. You can print these out in advance at home or find a limited number of copies in the baptistery before each weekend Mass.

UNDERSTANDING THE MENTAL HEALTH CRISIS
Bishop Robert Barron recently pointed to the record-high number of Americans facing depression and high number of suicides. Young people are also increasingly facing feelings of persistent sadness and hopelessness, according to Centers for Disease Control data showing that 44% of teens in the United States report experiencing these feelings, up from 37% in 2019. Bishop Barron addressed the impact that frequent social media use can have on the mental health of young people and brought his concerns to the fall meeting of the U.S. Bishop's Committee, which is working to develop a campaign of outreach. Bishop Barron believes that mental health issues and spiritual health issues are related to one another, particularly when it comes to spiritual desolation and alienation.

RESPONDING TO TRANSGENDER IDEOLOGY
We are happy to share with you a brand-new set of lessons and resources from our parish and school curriculum provider, Sophia Institute. This shared information is centered on a response to transgender ideologies in our challenging times.
These are free resources and, while designed as lessons, would be very valuable to any parent, grandparent, mentor, or even sacramental sponsor to help teach the truth about how God created us male and female and loves us exactly how He made us to be.
There are videos and resources for all grades, from Kindergarten through Grade 12. Please click on the button below for access.
