The number of men studying for the priesthood for the Diocese of Charlotte has tripled in the past seven years, creating a greater need for funding to support our 49 seminarians. The Seminarian Education Fund is the primary way we can support seminarians and foster vocations to help meet the growing need for priests to serve in our diocese. Currently, 21 men are enrolled at St. Joseph College Seminary in Mount Holly and 28 men are enrolled in major seminary at Mount St. Mary’s Seminary.

To Parents, Students, Faculty & Staff of St. Pius X School, As the school year comes to a close, we would like to thank all of you for allowing us to care for our beloved students in the health room. We love our job as the SPX School Nurses and enjoy caring for the great students of St. Pius X. We wish you all a wonderful summer! Best of luck to our 8th graders in high school.
This is a friendly reminder that your student(s) are required to have new health information on file. These are required by NC state law and the dates for physicals must be within a year of the first day of school (August 16, 2023). Letters were sent home in students’ folders who did not have the required information on file but if you are unsure if your student is up to date, please contact the health room.
Summer is here, and so are youth group activities! Watch for updates on our social media about upcoming events for teens to participate in over the summer! Congratulations to our recently Confirmed, who received the sacrament of Confirmationon Saturday, June 3 at St. Pius X.

“To Serve is to Love” is the theme of the 2023 Diocesan Support Appeal. We are called to follow Christ’s example to serve one another with love and compassion. Your contribution to the DSA helps fund the social service, educational, multicultural and vocational ministries of the diocese. When we make our annual contribution to the Diocesan Support Appeal, we join with all our brothers and sisters in Christ throughout the diocese to do the Lord’s work, works of love and service that no one individual or parish can do alone. Please visit our website at www.stpiusxnc.com/dsa to watch the 2023 DSA video that highlights some of the wonderful work done by DSA funded ministries and to donate online. St. Pius the Tenth’s 2023 DSA campaign assessment is $212,000. We will need the support of all parish families in order to meet this goal. Please give prayerful consideration to how you will respond to this request and complete and return your DSA pledge this week.
Thousands of people across the diocese benefit because of the DSA-funded ministries. Among those served are: 42,070 Children and Adults enrolled in Faith Formation Programs 6,896 Students in Catholic Schools 1,250 Teenagers through Youth Ministry programs 1,760 Catholic college students through Campus Ministry programs at 21 colleges/universities 18,762 Clients of Catholic Charities Diocese of Charlotte, with regional offices in Asheville, Charlotte and Winston-Salem 136 Permanent deacons through the Permanent Diaconate program 49 Seminarians currently discerning or in formation for the diocese
“You could call this 50th anniversary year a ‘Year of Faith.’ We are proclaiming along with St. Peter in today’s Gospel: ‘You are the Christ, the Son of the Living God’ (Mt 16: 16).”
“Faith More Precious than Gold” (1 Peter 1:7)
The Diocese of Charlotte celebrates its golden anniversary in 2022 – a year to be hallmarked by a renewal of our Catholic faith. Celebrations include a diocese-wide Marian Pilgrimage, the 2022 Eucharistic Congress, family-friendly events, 50 Acts of Charity, and historical highlights of the Church in western North Carolina from missionary times to today’s diverse and growing diocese.
Throughout this anniversary year, let us recall the past with gratitude, celebrate the present with joy, and look to the future with hope that we might glorify God and strengthen our diocesan family – above all, affirming our faith which is “more precious than gold.”
