Full-Time Second Grade Teacher
                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     

Saint Pius X Catholic School in Greensboro, North Carolina, is seeking a dynamic, creative, kind and caring Second Grade teacher for the 2020 - 2021 school year. North Carolina Elementary Education licensure and a minimum of five years successful teaching experience are preferred.  The qualified applicant must be a practicing Catholic in good standing with the Catholic Church.  Expertise in Elementary Education pedagogy, particularly reading comprehension and other developmental areas, as well as positive classroom management skills, a collaborative personality and upbeat attitude, a strong work ethic and excellent oral and written communication skills are among the requirements and desired attributes.  Candidates must have a passion for teaching children who are in their early formative years, should convey affirming expectations of themselves and their students, and should demonstrate an understanding of the complex developmental needs of elementary level students.  

The candidate creates and administers a classroom program that is conducive to student learning and which emphasizes mutual respect for all people. The candidate should use a variety of classroom techniques for learning and implement interdisciplinary, project-based work, field trips, outdoor experiences, educational technologies, and collaborative work with other teachers and classrooms into the second grade program. The candidate is flexible and committed to a continuous process for professional growth.

 

Teaching responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • The planning and implementation of a creative, engaging and stimulating classroom program that entails a high level of collaboration amongst students, includes interdisciplinary, project-based work, and which utilizes educational technologies appropriately.
  • The promotion of high expectations, and the establishment of an environment that supports social, emotional, religious, and academic development in students.
  • Frequent communicate with parents and caregivers about their child’s progress by phone, email, in-person conferences, regular newsletters, and through progress reports and report cards.
  • Consistent evaluation of students and use of data to drive instruction.
  • Integration of the tenants of the Catholic faith into the curriculum.
  • Attendance at staff meetings and other school related gatherings.
  • Participation in school committee work and other school endeavors.
  • Active monitoring of students during recess, and other duties as assigned.
  • Attendance and participation at open houses, school plays, arts showcases, and similar events.
  • Communication of a genuine comfort and excitement about working with children from diverse backgrounds.
  • Display of excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
